Outline Of Our Unique Program Levels

Our structured curriculum has 5 fundamental course levels followed by Master’s Level advanced training.

The 5 levels are designed to achieve a USCF rating of approximately 1000. Upon completion of all 5 Foundation Course levels, our students can enroll for highly-customized courses at the Master’s Level.

Beginner Level
  1. Nature of the game
  2. Identify the squares
  3. Rules for movement of pieces
  4. Introduction to special moves
  5. Check, Checkmate & Stalemate
  6. Attack and Defense
  7. Special moves in detail
  8. Material and Exchange
  9. Draw
  10. Basic Strategies
 
Learning Outcome: 
Upon completion of this level, the student will be well versed in the basic rules of the game and will be able to play a full game over the board with friends / family members. 
Intermediate Level
  1. Mate in one position
  2. Basic Checkmates with Queen and Rook.
  3. Basic Opening concepts
  4. How to notate a game
  5. Tactics – Double attack, Knight Fork, Skewer, Back Rank, Pin, Destroying the defender, Distracting the defender
  6. Mate in two positions
 

Learning Outcome: 
Upon completion of this level, each student will be comfortable with tactics and basic openings. This chess level will also provide the student with basic knowledge and guidance for competing in chess tournaments.

Advance Level
  1. Defending a checkmate
  2. King and Pawn endgames
  3. Berger’s rule
  4. Rook endgames theory
  5. Openings Advanced Tactics
  6. Queen vs pawn on 7th Rank

 

Learning Outcome:
At the completion of the Advanced level, the student will be able to analyze positional play at opening, middle and endgame and will be able to play an advanced chess game with strong contenders.
